Barbados holds a special place in my heart, I got married here on the beach 27 years ago!
The island is known for its stunning beaches, warm weather, and vibrant culture, which could make it an unforgettable experience. Plus, the island’s rich history, incredible food, and the warmth of the locals might also have something to do with why I have stayed so connected to it.
Barbados is well known for:
Beautiful Beaches: Barbados is famous for its pristine beaches, with clear turquoise waters and soft white sand. Popular beaches like Crane Beach and Carlisle Bay are known for their beauty and perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and relaxing.
Rich History: As one of the oldest British colonies in the Caribbean, Barbados has a fascinating colonial history. The island's capital, Bridgetown, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, filled with historical buildings.
Rum: Barbados is the birthplace of rum! The island is home to Mount Gay Rum, one of the oldest rum distilleries in the world, rum plays a major part in the local rum shops of his island which are little Shaks known as rum shop a bar to me and you!
Cuisine: Barbadian cuisine, also known as "Bajan" food, is full of flavor. Dishes like flying fish and cou-cou (the national dish), as well as street food like fish cakes and macaroni pie, are beloved staples.
Don’t miss the green monkeys that swing from the trees and if you’re a golf fan royal westmoreland has plenty to offer you ! Also don’t miss the Oistins Fish Fry is definitely a highlight! It’s such a fantastic spot to not only enjoy freshly grilled fish but to really immerse yourself in the local culture. The lively atmosphere with the music, dancing, and the chance to meet friendly Bajans makes it a unique experience
